Covenant Bible Study

This Covenant experience will guide participants in a comprehensive, in-depth study of the Bible over twenty-four weeks. Unlike the learning participants may have experienced in other groups, this in-depth study of the whole Bible emphasizes the biblical concept of covenant as a unifying pattern through all the books in the Old and New Testaments. It underscores the unique relationship that God chooses to have with us as God’s people. This relationship is grounded in the faithfulness of God’s love and on our ongoing commitment to stay in love with God while we share signs of that love with others. Each episode connects to an aspect of this covenant relationship, which is summarized in the heading of each participant guide. The three Covenant participant guides show you what to read and offer space to interact personally with the daily Bible readings, the prayers, and the weekly covenant meditations. Our Covenant Bible Study meets on Tuesday’s from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Walk to Emmaus

The walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers. Following the three-day experience, participants are joined in small groups to support each other in their ongoing walk with Christ.

Sunday Christian Formation

Jefferson UMC offers a variety of Sunday school classes which meet from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in September through the month of May. Some focus on a chosen Scripture or book of the Bible for discussion while others address topical issues. Groups typically are discussion based with a facilitator assisting.

Adult classes available include:

  • The Adult Class – facilitated by John and Nancy Patterson, the class meets in Angel’s Wing
  • Community Corner – the intergenerational group that celebrates kids and adults learning together.  You can all take part in a craft and time of learning around scripture and theme from each Sunday’s worship. The group is at our Community Corner table in Wesley Hall.
  • Siblings in Christ – facilitated by Ann Marrison

Seasonal Bible & Book Studies
